Trick or Treat

Ryan’s first Halloween was fairly uneventful. He received no orders yesterday. He only had a few desats so overall he did well.

This year Ryan had 4 costumes!!
He was a deer hunter earlier this month in support of his daddy.

He was a monkey in honor of his Papa Monkey.

He was the most adorable little pumpkin.

Last but not least he was a shadow doggie!
His costume said it was a cat but I realized that the ears would point
forward just like deans pit/shar pei.

Gammie was able to hold our little man for the first time today.

His nurse was kind enough to take a few pictures for me while I worked.
Today was a rough day at work. Too much to do not enough time but it all had to get done and of course all of us had crazy loads of work to complete. I missed seeing our little man in his shadow costume. He had finished his bath and was tucked in bed when I visited.
He had his eyes open for a few minutes and I slipped out when he fell asleep. Hopefully I’ll be able to spend some good time with him tomorrow. I don't know about him but my mind could really use a good visit.

Cranky Mommy

Ryan had a very uneventful night. This morning his doctors increased his feeds to 25mls every 3 hours. He has been doing very well on his residuals.
I found Ryan this afternoon screaming his little head off, heart rate in the 210’s, and upon further investigation his cloths were soiled from the neck down. I thought I heard him crying when I walked in the door but wasn’t sure because his cry is little and muffled.

I changed him and attempted to clean him as best I could with the wipes and he turned into my happy little man again.

I spent a little bit of time holding him out of his new house while we were
waiting on his new bedding to arrive.
When I went to put him back in
his house he gave me the funniest ‘what DO you think you’re doing’ look.

After his soiling incident he was graduated to premie diapers. Honestly I’m not entirely sure he is ready for them but if it means he doesn’t have to lie in urine until someone changes him I’m ok with it. (I know we all have our moments but the way I found him was unacceptable. I’m normally the one who keeps mom and dean in check when they want to complain but after today I’m rather ticked! I guess it’s just like any job. You get spoiled with great people who care for him like they are their own and then you get the one who is just there for a job and you’re left very disappointed)

We did get about a half hour of good time with Ryan this afternoon.  Dean was able to hold our little man until his tape holding his tubes came completely off his face. (It was halfway off when I went in and asked the nurse several times to fix it but she seemed to ignore me then ended our holding session early because the tubes came untied and he was stressed? We weren’t allowed to hold him again because he was supposedly stressed and the day before when he became stressed he acted out)

I don’t mean to be so cranky but I would like to feel like my child is being taken care of. When he has dried crusties caked on his mouth. . I’m not left with that feeling.

I just talked with his new nurse for the night and am feeling much better.
He will get a good bath and before I even mentioned anything she said explained how she likes to keep them turned and positioned.  I love this little boy so much!

Just hate that people make me have to say things. Just shows how important it is to
make our patients look the best we can because it really does make you wonder how
they’ve been taken care of.

Busy Busy Bees!

Dean took me to breakfast this morning then we went and visited our first munchkin. I've worked very hard on not forgetting my camera when we head to the hospital. Today i took my camera and my chapstick to breakfast! At least I had my essentials!

The ladies at Web’s looked at pictures of Jackson’s flowersand then made me a bow that matched perfectly!

While we were out there we noticed that Jackson had a ‘little buddy.’
Dean loves it when we find lizards around the house and he calls them his ‘little buddy.’

It gave us a great sense of comfort knowing the little fella had made its home
in Jackson’s flowers and was keeping away the bugs/spiders.

Dean walked over to Dad’s headstone and asked him if he had a ‘little buddy’ too. I told him Dads buddies come out at dusk/dawn to feed. Dad picked our plots out under two acorn trees. We had to check and make sure the deer had plenty of food and this is what we found.

Trees full of acorns. We talked for a bit and decided that in heaven there is a never ending hunting season. Dean asked dad if he had his big deer yet and we both decided that Jackson must have one also. Just one question. . . .Whose deer was the biggest??

I’ve been working weeks on Big Bubba’s room and made definite headway this afternoon. I hope he will love it! There a quite a bit of work to be done but I love what we have so far.

Ryan has been rambunctious today. He apparently pulled out his feeding tubes this afternoon and was put in a onsie with mittens.

He had a few significant pulse ox and heart rate drops around 5 this evening. They suctioned his nose well and in turn he had a bit of a bloody nose but it did the trick. He is like his mommy. His nose is very sensitive and he is prone to drying and having bloody noses.

He is getting to be a very BIG bow. He gained 70grams in the last two days and is now up to 1235!!

That is 2lbs 11oz (around 15grams away from 12oz)

He has another familiar nurse tonight and she told us that he will still have some good and bad days on his breathing. Thankfully the bad days aren’t as bad as they once were. He just needs to keep growing and stay on top of his secretions.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday To Me!

My Husband, Family, and Friends have made this one of the best birthdays I’ve had in several years! I never dreamed after the year that we’ve had that I’d every enjoy my birthday.

My memorable birthday started out a day early with a very sweet card from these cuties here!! Thank you guys soo very much! Made me smile after a very crummy day at work!

I slept in till nearly noon this morning. My mom checked on our little man and when I woke up I had the ‘scoop’ in a text. Ryan had a good night last night. He weighed in at 1160 grams. That is 2lbs and 9oz! He is getting sooo big!!

The only order Ryan had this morning was for his feeds to increase. He will now receive 23mls of 26 calorie Similac. Today he has done well with his increased feeds and has had very little residual.

I spent the afternoon rocking with my special little man.

He even talked his nurse into allowing him to make me a birthday present last night!

When we walked into the room we found these pictures up on his window!!

Ryan tolerated swaddling in a blanket and being held in my arms rather than my chest today. He did so well. At one point he became fussy and I moved him to my chest and he threw a fit until I place him back across my arms.

He seemed to really like when he could look and interact with me!

He is such a very special little boy!

My Hubby did a very nice thing for me tonight. He organized a birthday dinner with my family and friends.

We had a very good dinner!

I absolutely LOVE my present he had made for me! (Thank you Peggy for all your hard work)

My sister surprised me tickets to see Rascal Flats in Concert!

Jordan surprised me with this basket full of goodies for Ryan’s room! It is FULL of things that match his room perfectly!!

I am so thankful for my Family and Friends.

I couldn’t have survived this year without them!!

I could not have dreamed up a better birthday!!!

My Bright Eyed Boy

Ryan had a good night last night. The doctor didn’t write any additional orders this morning.

Ryan spent most of the day with Gammie. I am very thankful that my mom can be there with him while I have to work.

Ryan was very awake when I changed him tonight. I love spending time with him after work. Just wish I felt better and could stay longer.

Work and Visiting is about to get the better of my almost nonexistent sleep schedule. Bad thing is I can tell that Ryan is fussier and his days are harder on him when I work several days close together.

He found that he could hold his hands together tonight. At first he didn’t understand what happened. His right have was clasp around his left pointer finger. He would hold on tighter with his fist while he was trying to pull his finger away. It was too cute.

My two favorite bigger munchkins sent me the sweetest card!

I still love that they are enjoying the cloths so much!
I wonder if Santa is watching and getting ideas ;)
