Ryan has had a very good night. His oxygen saturations are doing well. He was fighting the vent feverishly. His nurse said that he either needed to be taken off of the vent or he HAD to be sedated. The APN agreed and Ryan was taken off of the ventilator!!!
He has done very well of off the vent!! His CO2 levels are now back into the 50’s. His pH is much closer to normal. His kidneys are still compensating but they are not having to work as hard.
I was able to hold him for the first time in nearly a week this afternoon!! We spent several hours rocking. Ryan wasn’t feeling the ACH hospital so Mommy brought him an unopened soothie that was sent home with us from Baptist. He has become attached to his soothies.
His feeds are going well. They have increased his mls to 42 and his IV nutrition will be stopped at 8am tomorrow morning.
Dr. L is going off call for the next week but said he anticipates starting oral feeds within the next few days and having Ryan home by the weekend.
