One Extreme to Another

Ryan’s oxygen is still doing much better! He is consistently taking his feeds thickened within his 20 minute time frame. He is beginning to look a bit more like my ‘happy’ baby!
The only catch is that after scheduled enemas and thick-it he now has watery stools. The APN stopped his scheduled enemas this morning. Hopefully it will help his system.
Dr. L has spoken with the surgical fellow and they believe that his tummy/gut issues could be being aggravated by his hernia.
Dr. L has decided that it is best that Ryan stay in the NICU through the weekend and we are looking at surgery on his hernia Monday morning.
We could have possibly gone home today but had we gone home Ryan would have had to gone to the PICU or the regular floor. Dr. L wants to keep him as ‘clean’ as possible. He also wants to recover Ryan from surgery within the NICU.
Dr. L says that as long as our multi-purpose room is available that
we will be able to stay here with him.
On a fun note . . . . Ryan had his first “real” bath this afternoon!! He had a bit of ‘explosive’ stool which shot clear cross his crib. Unfortunately we must ‘deal’ with the liquid stool because the opposite can make the situation much worse.
He seemed to LOVE his bath.

His weight was up !! He is right around 5lbs 15oz!!!
