I think Dean said it best today. We never knew the one of the best days of our lives would be followed by the worst only a week later.
Today we celebrated Jackson’s first birthday in Heaven. I wanted to do something with more meaning and planning but once again our plans were not God’s plans.
It wasn’t the first birthday cake pictures that we thought we would have taken but Dean found Jackson a birthday cake of his own!
When we lost Jackson my dad was instrumental on our helping us find the ‘perfect’ plot placements. They are just close enough from the acorn trees that the deer will visit most every night but far enough away that the trees roots will not affect our markers.
It made us smile then in a time of great sadness. . . Today the deer tracks did the same.
We celebrated another birthday today also. Smokey is 7 years old today! His special treat was a car ride and visit to Gammy’s. He LOVES his car rides!!
He also had his very own birthday ‘cake.’
We spent the rest of the day relaxing and popping balloons!! I’m sure my daddy would have been proud of my ‘redneck engineering.’ In all honesty we had a very nice day spending time with our family. It was exactly how daddy would have loved!
Ryan has had a very good day today. They have stopped his morphine drip and his vent is on pressure support mode with a low rate. This is all in preparation of weaning the vent and taking it out!! The plan as of right now is to take Ryan off of the vent in the morning!!
