Lazy. . .Rainy. . .Sunday!!

Today we have all tried to do our best to rest. I want nothing more than to hold and rock Ryan all day long but I know that he needs to rest to insure that he is in the best physical condition heading into surgery.
We have gotten the blessing from both anesthesia, surgery, and our neonatologist for Ryan to undergo a hernia repair in the morning. The procedure itself is minor the concern is how Ryan will respond to anesthesia. Hopefully he will kick butt the way he has throughout his little life and not need to spend any additional time on the ventilator. However, should he need to be weaned slowly off the vent Dr. L is going vent and sedate him overnight so that his lungs can rest and his pain can be completely regulated. Pain is also an issue of concern. They do not want to withhold pain medications and will not in the event that it may depress his respiratory system hence the possible need to remain on the vent overnight.
Gammy bought Ryan a travel ‘swing’ that moves side-to-side like his big swing at home. Hopefully it will help him rest while he is unable to eat before surgery.
Ryan has taken his last bottle. It was a full 60mls so we are hoping that it will tide him over at least until time for surgery and a good nap. The nurses were able to get his IV in one stick!! This is such a blessing!! He had a PICC line early on in his NICU stay and it looks as though his little veins weren’t damaged too much with scar tissue from his PIV’s.

We are fixing to attempt to get a few hours of sleep before his finally stages of pre-op begin. We thank everyone for all their prayers and support. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them!!
