Once Ryan took to his new bottles and formula we had a pretty uneventful night! Shadow kept watch under his cradle all night. He is generally sleeping between 2 ½ to 3 hours between his feedings.
Ryan was not feeling sleeping in his cradle after his first good feedings. Honestly I think he must have known how to play on Daddy’s heartstrings. A few good cries and he was sleeping in Daddy’s arms. I’m not sure which one was happier! (I do know that after two nights of Ryan not sleeping at the hospital the days before the Mommy was more than happy for a few good hours of sleep!)
Auntie Lesha isn’t the slightest bit proud of her nephew! He had to get his first Christmas present from her the night he came home from the hospital.
He seemed to love his monkey pillow!
Ryan and Daddy ‘chilled’ as Mommy fixed Christmas Dinner. Dean has been chomping at the bit to get Ryan home so they could kick back in the Lazy Boy.
Last year was my first time to cook our family Christmas dinner. I was pregnant with Jackson and Christmas Eve was the one day that I didn’t feel ‘that’ sick. I was beyond elated to have the opportunity to cook again this year!
We are learning all too well that preemie and newborn sizes are different in every single brand. After weeks of searching we finally found a First Christmas outfit. Once we started dressing Ryan we realized that even though some newborns are just a little big . . . others swallow him whole!!
Ryan doesn’t know it yet but his cousin Danielle and him WILL be the best of buddies. She called/text several times over the days leading up to Christmas to check on Ryan and see how he was doing.
She was hesitant to hold Ryan at first but her greater want to hold him
won out and her smile says it all!
won out and her smile says it all!
Ryan received his first Christmas card filled with money today. He doesn’t quite realize it yet but his Papaw thinks he is a huge deal also.
I had hoped to make homemade gifts for Christmas while Ryan was in the hospital but once his eating took off all our plans changed. Ryan wanted to make sure grandparents received something for Christmas but Papaw was having none of it! He was adamant that making them Great-Grandparents WAS their Christmas gift!
Ryan’s momma didn’t listen and papaw and grandma both received a small Christmas present. Grandma’s nose constantly runs so Ryan suggested we get her boxes of tissues.
When papa works out in his shop he always has a piece of bubble gum in his mouth! Ryan found the perfect bank filled with gum!
Our Family Christmas would not be complete without a photo session with the great- grandparents. Ryan is still battling gas pains and Papaw learned firsthand how Ryan’s tummy rumbles.
Grandma was a little apprehensive about holding Ryan but ultimately decided she would take a turn.
My Papaw has been one of my biggest cheer leaders throughout my entire life. I loved seeing bout him and my grandma smile each time they came to look at Ryan.
The best part of the day was Grandma giving me a huge hug . . .
and thanked me for bringing Christmas to their home.
