Ryan has had a pretty laid back day. Dean talked with Dr. N today and he said that as far as the MD’s are concerned he is on track to be home before Christmas. He also told us that he will be pushing Ryan to feed more and wrote an order for Ryan to be fed early if he wakes up 30 minutes before feedings. (Ryan has been waking up early and exhausting himself fussing and then not taking an adequate bottle).
Dr. N told us that Ryan has another week-10 days maybe two weeks before he comes home. He said that at that point anything feeding/oxygen that they are doing in the hospital can be done at home.
I spent a little bit of time with Ryan after work this evening. The nurse allowed me to bath and care for Ryan. He weighed in at 1110 grams and 16.5 inches long.
He now weighs 4lbs 10oz! He also gained ½ of an inch this week! It is also a very good thing that he gained. Yesterday he was changed to a formula that he will be going home on! It has fewer calories than the formula that Ryan has been on BUT he gained weight so that is a very positive sign!!
Ryan will be bottle fed again tonight around 11pm. He has done better today with his bottles. He took a complete 40ml feeding at 5am this morning and then took 30mls at his 2pm feeding.
