Ryan is still fighting eating. As you may recall he is NOT the best multitasker! His poor tummy continues to rumble very loud and is causing him a great deal of discomfort.
Dr. S came in while PT was working with Ryan this morning and saw what a time he was having with his gas. He cannot concentrate on eating because he is so enthralled with his gas!
Dr. S said that his Lactinex may be adding to his gas problems. He discontinued this medication in hopes that his gas should become less in the next few days. If it still is a problem he said that they would change his formula to a soy based formula. They want to keep him on the formula that has the most calcium due to his young age/birth weight but seeing as how his alk phos level has been normal that he could take a decrease in calcium.
Ryan will also receive his 2 month immunizations tonight. He will get a total of five immunizations in three shots. Part of me is happy that I won’t have to watch while the other part of me wants to be there for him afterward. His nurse tonight promised that she would give him his Tylenol every 6 hours as ordered to make sure that they didn’t make him feel too crummy!
Ryan's Auntie Krista came to see him today. She saw him a few days right after he was born. This time he looked VERY different.
Ryan’s weight went down tonight. We are hoping it is just due to him having a MASSIVE dirty diaper. His weight was 2310grams. That’s 5lbs 2oz.
His nurse tonight is a more seasoned nurse and says that he needs to be attempting to bottle feed each feed as long as he is awake. They also said that after he receives his immies that he may be more sluggish and won’t eat as well. Hopefully Ryan will have a good night and not experience any shot pains!
