First Night!

Ryan’s weight stayed the same tonight. His scheduled got all jacked up overnight. They tried him on a feeding schedule of every 4 hours again last night and it did NOT work! He is not strong enough to take the nearly 70mls at a feeding that would be required.
Dr. Z was great today! He said he ‘had a talk’ with those who’ve been doing the every 4 hours on chronic babies. He also told us about the neonatologist who will be following Ryan’s lungs, meds, and oxygen once we are home. This was a great comfort knowing that a specialist would continue to care for his heightened needs. Dr. Z has seen us through many of our rough days in the NICU. I know it is corny but we found the Christmas books filled with life savers and bought one for each of the MD’s. They have truly saved our little man’s life and given us the absolute BEST Christmas present ever!! It was sweet. Dr. Z said that he couldn’t eat the book of lifesavers because he was going to put it up in his office. Needless to say we are all a little attached to each other.
When we accepted that we were probably going to spend Christmas in the hospital Gammie brought up clings for his window! I haven’t had a chance to take a picture of his special treat until today. We opted to leave the clings on the window in his semiprivate room for the next little ones who will have to spend Christmas in the NICU. Hopefully it will make the room a little more like home at Christmas.
We spent many a night looking out at the Christmas tree and the courtyard filled with Christmas lights!!

 Speaking of changing rooms,
Over a month ago we were moved to 2K and was given a private room to
spend two nights with his family.

It seemed very fitting that when they moved us they placed us in the exact same room to room in for discharge that we roomed in over a month ago. As Dean said we are in the second door on the left. . . .Again.
Poor Ryan had a rough start to the night. His schedule was still off from the every 4 hour attempt the night before. Also he received his first RSV shot before dinner. Ryan’s schedule affected his sleep pretty much all night long.

Unfortunately we have to stay on the every three hour schedule and our nurse was adamant that he stayed especially on every three hours. Even if it meant waking him 30 minutes after he Just Got To Sleep!!
Ryan only had two more nurse driven test to complete before discharge. He passed his hearing test with flying colors last night and tonight was all about the car seat test.
In order to go home the babies must sit in his car seat for a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes. If their drive is farther than 90minutes they must stay in the seat for the amount of time. Thankfully we only live 20 minutes away from the hospital and only had to complete 90 minutes worth of sitting in his car seat.
Needless to say he was NOT thrilled at ALL to spend time in his car seat.
I ended up having to pull the rocker next to his car seat and hold his passi in his mouth to get him to calm the slightest bit.
It was funny. They measured him and then the seat and we attempted to place him in the seat and went to strap him in and we actually had to RAISE the belts! I never dreamed we'd have to readjust!! Our little man is big enough for the second belt loop!!

Thankfully IPOD in lap he fell asleep!! We slept for around one hour before we were both woke up. I don’t remember why we were woke up but we were.

Tomorrow/Today will be filled with education. HAHA Thats why we were woke up! I was offically taught how to draw up liquid medications into a syrnge! I was just ready to go back to sleep so I didn't protest on the education.
